One of the hottest areas of home improvement projects is the redesign of kitchens and bathrooms. New house construction often features elaborate kitchen design creating a center of today’s American home. In addition bathrooms have become new oases for homeowners. In fact, according to the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (http://www.nari.org/), nearly five million bathrooms will be renovated throughout the country this year, while the amount of money spent on kitchen and bath remodeling projects has tripled since 1993.
The Art Institute of Las Vegas’ Kitchen & Bath Design program offers educational content that recognizes the professional standards of the kitchen and bath field, preparing students for the kitchen and bath industry.
The Kitchen & Bath Design program will prepare students for entry level positions with a focused specialization in these two important areas of the home. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to participate in the design, sales, and installation of kitchen and bath projects.
Typical duties would include: selection of products, working with showrooms, complete drawings and related construction documents. Kitchen & bath designers work with contractors, builders, manufacturers, retailers and private clients for completion of design development, budget management and installation of kitchen and baths. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in the field.
Opportunities for entry-level employment are many and varied and include: designers, cabinet shops, multi-branch retailers, manufacturers, fabricators, installers, distributors, manufacturer’s representatives, dealers, builders/remodelers and decorative plumbing and hardware.
